Importance of Paediatric Physiotherapy

Paediatric Physiotherapy plays a vital role in supporting the optimal physical development and well-being of infants, children, and adolescents.

Paediatric Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in assisting young patients in achieving their optimal physical development. It can help address various conditions such as developmental delays, motor impairments, orthopedic injuries, neurological disorders, and respiratory problems. By utilising evidence-based techniques and interventions, Paediatric Physiotherapists can support children in reaching their developmental milestones, promoting mobility, and enhancing their quality of life.

Our Lavington Paediatric Physiotherapists can help treat or manage a range of conditions including, but not limited to:

Paediatric Physiotherapy can assist children with developmental delays, including delayed motor milestones such as sitting, crawling, or walking.

Children with conditions like asthma or cystic fibrosis may receive respiratory physiotherapy to enhance lung function and breathing techniques.

Certain genetic disorders, such as Down syndrome or spastic paraplegia, can benefit from Paediatric Physiotherapy to improve muscle tone, mobility, and overall physical function.

Conditions like muscular dystrophy or spina bifida may cause muscle weakness or paralysis. Paediatric Physiotherapy focuses on managing symptoms, maintaining mobility, and improving independence.

Musculoskeletal conditions like scoliosis, torticollis, or postural abnormalities can be addressed through Physiotherapy for Children. It aims to improve posture, flexibility, and muscular strength.

This neurological disorder affects movement and coordination. Paediatric Physiotherapy can help improve muscle strength, balance, and mobility in children with cerebral palsy.

LAVINGTON PAEDIATRIC PHYSIOTHERAPY FAQs

You may consider consulting a Paediatric Physiotherapist in Lavington if your child is experiencing delays in reaching developmental milestones, has difficulty with movement, coordination, or balance, or if they have a specific condition or injury affecting their physical abilities.

Paediatric Physiotherapy uses a variety of techniques tailored to each child’s needs. These may include therapeutic exercises, play-based activities, manual therapy, motor control training, aquatic therapy, assistive devices, and parent education to support home-based interventions.

The duration of a Paediatric Physiotherapy session can vary depending on the child’s age, condition, and specific goals. Typically, sessions may range from 30 minutes to an hour. The frequency and duration of treatment will be determined based on the individual needs and progress.

Signs that may indicate your child could benefit from paediatric physiotherapy include difficulty with sitting, crawling, walking, or running compared to peers, poor balance or coordination, frequent falls, persistent pain or discomfort during movement, and delays in reaching motor milestones.

If your child is already receiving therapy or treatment for their condition, it may still be beneficial to consult a Lavington paediatric physiotherapist. They can assess your child’s physical abilities, provide specialised interventions, and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to optimise their overall progress and well-being.
