Specialised Physiotherapy – Albury, Wodonga & Melbourne
At Enhance Physio, we understand that some conditions require advanced skills, experience, and a deeper understanding of the body’s systems. That’s why our physiotherapists undertake additional training in specialised areas, allowing us to deliver expert care across a range of complex conditions. From TMJ (jaw) pain and neurological rehabilitation to vestibular therapy, hydrotherapy, paediatric physiotherapy, gait analysis, and orthotic support, our team is here to help you move better, recover faster, and live with confidence.
TMJ Physio (Jaw)
TMJ Physiotherapy focuses on treating dysfunction in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), the hinge connecting your jaw to your skull. TMJ disorders affect up to 12% of people each year and are often caused by muscle tension, stress, clenching, or post-dental procedures.
Common symptoms include:
- Difficulty opening or chewing
- Clicking or locking of the jaw
- Facial, ear, or jaw pain
- Headaches or teeth grinding
Our physiotherapists perform a detailed assessment to identify the underlying cause and provide targeted manual therapy, muscle release, and self-management strategies. With the right treatment, jaw pain can often be resolved quickly and effectively.
Neurological Rehabilitation
Our neurological physiotherapy team works with patients affected by conditions of the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system. We provide evidence-based therapy for conditions including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis.
Treatment focuses on restoring strength, coordination, and movement patterns through hands-on therapy, tailored exercise programs, and use of assistive devices. Our Albury and Wodonga clinics feature fully equipped rehabilitation gyms, enabling us to deliver progressive programs that improve independence and confidence.
Running Assessments
Running injuries require a specialised approach, which is why we offer comprehensive Running Assessments designed for all levels, from casual runners to competitive athletes. During a one-hour initial consultation, we:
- Take a full history of your training and goals
- Perform a detailed biomechanical and gait analysis (including video review)
- Use dorsaVi sensor technology to measure movement and load
- Provide gait retraining and injury prevention strategies
Our goal is to help you recover, optimise performance, and prevent future injuries through evidence-based movement coaching and rehabilitation.
Gait Assessments
Walking efficiently and pain-free begins with proper gait mechanics. Our physiotherapists use real-time and slow-motion gait analysis to identify movement imbalances such as hip drop, toe walking, asymmetrical stride, or shuffling gait.
By understanding how you move, we can design a treatment plan that corrects deficiencies, improves walking comfort, and reduces strain on your joints, restoring confidence in every step.
Casting, Splinting & Orthotics
At Enhance Physio, we provide fibreglass casting, custom splinting, and semi-rigid orthotics for injury management and rehabilitation.
- Fibreglass casts: Lightweight, durable, and waterproof, ideal for fracture immobilisation.
- Thermoplastic splints: Custom-moulded to support finger, hand, or wrist injuries.
- Orthotics: Heat-mouldable insoles to correct foot posture and relieve conditions such as plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, bunions, and Achilles pain.
Our goal is to ensure your recovery is comfortable, supported, and efficient, with every device customised to your unique anatomy and activity needs.
Specialised Physiotherapy FAQs
How do I prepare for my physiotherapy treatment?
Wear something comfortable and that allows your area of concern to be easily accessible (eg shorts for knee injury, singlet for shoulder, wear runnings if sporting injury etc). Having a good understanding of when and how your injury or condition happened and what things aggravate or ease your symptoms will help your physiotherapist diagnose your issue more quickly.
What is included in a TMJ assessment physiotherapy?
Your physiotherapist will identify what may be contributing to causing your TMJ pain or restriction. They will then perform a physical assessment to identify which muscles or joint is contributing to your problem, this guides them in their treatment of your jaw during the session and assists them in formulating exercises and a plan to self-manage your symptoms at home.
What are some physical therapy exercises for TMJ?
Self-massage, Self-mobilisation and stress management are the most common forms of exercises for TMJ.
How long do hydrotherapy sessions last?
Depending on your condition and the setting (individual vs group) your hydrotherapy session will usually be either 30 or 60 minutes in duration.
Are there exercises I can do at home?
Absolutely, part of your therapy will include a personalised home exercise program designed to support your recovery and manage symptoms.
