Pain in the Heel?

Do you have foot pain that is slowing you down?

You may be experiencing plantar fascia pain or plantar fasciitis, the most common cause of heel pain. It is estimated that 1 in 10 people will experience plantar fascia pain in their lifetime. Generally, plantar fascia pain gradually develops, however it can be caused by a trauma to the area in some instances, eg. Stepping on something sharp.

Plantar fasciitis can be a very painful condition causing pain in the heel or along the arch of the foot with standing, walking and running. Symptoms are typically worse first thing in the morning or after rest and improve with activity. These injuries can occur in people of all ages and professions including people who are very active, people who stand for large portions of their day, pregnant women and older people.

The good news is that there are many options for the treatment of plantar fascia pain with evidence showing that conservative management is the most effective option in majority of cases. If you are experiencing heel pain, an Enhance physiotherapist can assess, diagnose and manage your symptoms to get you on the road towards pain free feet.
